A Charity for Rural Poverty Allevation

 

 

Introduction.

GlosAid, registered in 1998, is a voluntary charity aiming to alleviate rural poverty in the Gambia through partnership with some people in the United Kingdom and some Gambian rural communities in several community based management projects.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.

GlosAid's aims and objectives include:.

1. Improving the social and economic conditions of the under-privileged of Gambian communities.

2. Providing humanitarian services to needy Gambians without any discrimination.

3. Co-ordinating the charity services of development projects.

Target Population and Projects.

To reduce poverty efficiently, GlosAid Foundation, seeks to lay emphasis on the priority areas that benefit women and children most.

• Basic Education

• Health.

• Sports.

Management

A Board of Trustees, guided by a detailed constitution, is responsible for the overall administration of the Foundation's funds and projects. This body is composed of local representatives and their European partners. A transparent system is put in place to ensure accountability. A chairperson, assisted by a coordinator, treasurer, and secretary is charged with the overseeing of the day to day management of the Foundation.

Financing GlosAid Foundation.

GlosAid Foundation shall employ legitimate means compatible with charity organisations. These may include:.

• Humanitarian.

• Membership Subscription

• Donations; cash and kind

• Fundraising.

• Sale of promotional materials

• Individuals and Philanthropists.

How to Contribute to GlosAid

Donations to the Foundation are welcome from any well-wisher and friend.

Donations could be made in any of the following to the Foundation.

• Crossed cheques

• Bills of exchange

• Credit cards.

• Other appropriate financing means

Contributions to the fund are payable to the Foundation directly in The Gambia or to the Liaison Officer/Aid Coordinator in the U.K. for our overseas supporters.

Financial Control.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the following control mechanisms are embodied in the Foundation's constitution:

The board through its chairperson is mandated to direct and supervise the Foundation's finances. The chairperson shall maintain proper records of all financial transactions.

The Foundation has a bank account with a reputable bank.

Three board members sign cheques. Donations provided to the Foundation are paid to the bank account within 24 hours.

In the event of any fraud, legal steps will be instituted against the culprit (s).

The Foundation's accounts are audited regularly.
